10 Days Vietnam Tour: Hanoi to Hoi An

“Xin chào” - Welcome to Vietnam. VietSense Travel guide and driver will welcome you at airport then transfer to hotel in city for check in. (Check in time: 14.00. Early check in at surcharge). Rest of the day is your free time for refreshement after a long flight or explore Hanoi on your own.

Located at the center of Red River Delta and with more than one thousand years’ history, Hanoi became the capital of Vietnam. Visiting Hanoi, you will not only witness a busy developing city through modern architects and busy streets but also learn more about history, culture, nature and friendly local people

Start your day with a visit to Ho Chi Minh Complex includes: Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (from outside), the Presidential Palace, the house on stilt, the botanical garden and the One-pillar pagoda. A short transfer will bring you to Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam, where you will have a talk deep with our guide about education history of Vietnam since a thousand year ago until now.

Afternoon, spend your time to learn about the bitter sweet history of Vietnam at Hoa Lo Prison. Hoa Lo Prison was built in 1896 by the French to house Vietnamese patriots during Indochina War, and later, it was used by Vietnamese to hold American pilots who were shot down during the Vietnam War. 

Wrap your visit with one hour for cyclo tour around the Old Quarter - the bustling heart of Hanoi to see the daily life of local people and French architecture along ancient streets.

Free at leisure until pick up time for transfer to Railway station for overnight train to Lao Cai.

Early arrival at Lao Cai Train Station, meet your guide and transfer to a local restaurant in Sapa for breakfast and refreshment.

After having breakfast, you will have a brief introduce about your trip then transfer downhill to Mong Sen, where you start trekking uphill through mountainous area. Enjoy while walking the spectacular view over rice paddy terraces, corn fields. Your picnic lunch will be provided on the spot. 

After lunch, we continue our trek downhill towards Taphin village where you will meet Red Dao and Black Hmong minorities, two largest ethnic groups in Sapa area. Stop by a house to talk with local people to know a bit more about their daily life, their customs and tradition. Have dinner and overnight in the village. 

Approx: 1-hour driving/ 4 hours walking/ 1-hour lunch.

After breakfast, we start our trek towards Ma Tra Village inhabited by Black Hmong people. We will pass through several minority villages; rice paddy terraces along the way. We will stop for our lunch at the village before get on your car for transfer back to Sapa. Have a shower for refreshment and relax after the trekking trip. Free at leisure until pick up time for transfer to Lao Cai Station for overnight train to Hanoi.

Early arrival at Hanoi Railway Station, meet your guide and transfer to hotel for check in your day use room. Refresh and have breakfast then departure to Halong. Have a short time to relax before embark at the cruise at noon. Check in and enjoy relaxing time in your own cabin or at sundeck before having lunch at the restaurant.

After lunch, follow the cruise's itinerary to discover Halong Bay – the UNESCO World Heritage Site and join activities as visiting a beautiful cave, have some swimming or other activities like sunset party, cooking demonstration etc before dinner (depending on each cruise, the activities might be changed).

After dinner is your free time. You may choose to enjoy fresh air on the sundeck or playing board games or try your luck with squid fishing.

If you don’t mind, please try to wake up early and join the Taichi class with the crew and enjoy watching sunrise on the bay. Take part in other activities of the 2nd day while the boat cruise back to the Habour.

Farewell with the crew and Halong. Meet your guide and driver again for transfer to Hanoi airport for flight to Hue.

Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to hotel for check in.

After breakfast, start your visit with first stop at Imperial Royal Citadel – home to 13 Kings of Nguyen Dynasty, the last feudal dynasty in Vietnam. Then, drive along Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda and a garden house.

Lunch at local restaurant then transfer to Khai Dinh Tomb for a short visit. It took 11 years to build Khai Dinh Tomb and the tomb is totally unique from the other Nguyen Dynasty tombs, using modern architecture and materials like concrete and wrought iron.

Your journey continues with a 3 hour drive to the south to Hoi An. En route, you will have a short break at peak of Hai Van Pass for photo shot before reaching Danang – the beach city in the Center Vietnam and drive straight to Hoi An for check in.

Our guide will pick you up at hotel for a drive to My Son Sanctuary which 50 km southwest of Hoi An. Located in a lush valley, My Son was a capital and religious center of Cham people, now remaining with red brick towers and sanctuaries.

My Son, considered to be in the same league as some of Southeast Asia's greatest archaeological sites, including Angkor in Cambodia, Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya in Thailand and Borobudur in Indonesia. These towers and sanctuaries was built from the 7 to 13 centuries. Your tour guide will share with you the history, culture and Hindu influence on the Cham Kingdom while visiting the remains of the carefully-crafted red brick temples with beautiful monuments and epitaphs.

Back to Hoi An Town for lunch before walking through ancient streets of Hoi An to explore the beauty of the town with Japanese Bridge – the symbol of Hoi An, ancient houses, central market etc.
